Thank you to all of the team from yesterday, excellent performances from everyone who played.

Nuneaton GC EGGS First Away Day 2024

While our course at Nuneaton was closed on Monday 13th May for practicing for the Brabazon qualifier, 20 of the EGGS had an away day at lovely Fulford Heath GC, Wythall, Birmingham. I’ve always said it’s important to have fun on these away days, so in addition to a normal Stableford competition we included a team challenge.

Dave Malones ‘Apprentices’ v Paul Fieldhouse’s ‘Coaching Staff’. Handicaps were balanced to ensure no advantage prevailed, but it seems that a conversation with Nuneaton Handicap Chairman is on the cards, as the ‘Apprentices’ just pipped the now ex ‘Coaching Staff’. Okay so 8 to 2 wasn’t so close, but it just made me feel better when I wrote it.

The Stableford result was -

1st - Dave Forster (35 points)

2nd - Robin Richards (34 points)

3rd - Adrian Smith (33 points)

Well done gents!

Don’t ask about my score as the course didn’t suit my game, greens were lightning fast, the trees got in the way all the time, and the wind blew in the wrong direction during most of my shots. Oh and the numerous green side bunkers I visited proved difficult to exit and hold the fast greens. The good news is I played well over the last 3 holes.  Alright, alright I played rubbish, but in reality I didn’t want to peak too early as it’s the ‘Frank Roberts Cup’ on Thursday 16th May. #inittowinit as they say.

See you on the golf course or in the clubhouse.

Thursday 2nd May - NGC v Burton on Trent (Home)

On Thursday 2nd May we welcomed members from Burton on Trent in the first Seniors match of the 2024 season.  NGC were successful with a 4-2 victory.

Following the event we received some fantastic feedback from our opponents:

Thanks to Tony and you for an excellent day yesterday. I and my colleagues from Burton thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Nuneaton. It was the first time I’ve played your course and although I would have liked the result to have been different I enjoyed in immensely. I look forward to hosting you and your team for the return match at Burton and hope we can provide as enjoyable a day as the one you gave us.

BoTGC Seniors Captain of the day
