Slow Play Hints & Tips

Let’s face it, one of the most frustrating aspects of Golf is slow play!

However, by making a few simple changes to the way we do things, and without rushing our shots, we can reduce the time we take to complete our round without affecting or spoiling our game in any way.

To that end we would ask all our members and visitors to adopt the following:

  • Tee off at the designated time and endeavour to arrive on the tee at least 10 minutes before your tee-off time.
  • Nominate a player in your group to tee off first on every hole to keep up momentum.
  • Enter the score on your card while someone else is on the tee, don’t wait while everyone completes their card.
  • Always find your own ball before looking for others in your group.
  • Keep up with the group in front – not just ahead of the group behind.
  • While others in your group are playing their shot select your club and be ready to play as soon as they have hit their shot. Play ready golf when safe to do so.
  • If you get delayed looking for a ball, or for any other reason, call the group behind through.
  • If you are more than one hole behind make a positive effort to catch up.
  • Always position your clubs on the side of the green that lead to the next tee.
  • On the 18th move away from the green as soon as possible, complete your score cards well clear of the green.

By following these simple tips golf can be enjoyed at a good pace leaving plenty of time to enjoy the 19th with your playing partners after.
