After qualifying through the Warwickshire & Midlands rounds of the English School’s Golf Championships, Alfie qualified to the Finals on the 26th June at the Kendleshire Golf Club. The 36 hole event plays host to the best English school girls & boys from across the country.
During his first round, Alfie shot 9 over, lipping out on at least 6 holes for birdies or par. He just didn’t have the run of the green! His second round was much kinder, shooting just 4 over with a round of 75.This saw him finish 18th overall. A top 20 finish in this event was one of his targets this year, so he is very pleased to have achieved this in, what has been a very busy exam period!
This week is is competing in the Midlands Open Youth Championships at Stoke Rochford GC & the week after it’s the Midland Closed Youth Championships at Northampton GC.
Alfie also has a busy week this week!
He has been selected in a 6 man Warwickshire team (Under 18s) to play in 2023 EG Boys County Championship – Midlands Qualifying being held at Kirby Muxloe – This is a stroke play competition that will be held over 36 holes with the best 5 scores to count, the winners then going on to play in the English Boys finals.
Then Thursday 1st & Friday 2nd June he will be playing in the Midlands Schools Championship held at St Neots Golf Club where he will be hoping to qualify for the English Schools championship!
On Sunday 28th May Jake represented Warwickshire Under 14s against Shropshire and Herefordshire at Copsewood Grange golf course, this was Jake's first Match as Warwickshire Under 14 Captain, he won his match 5&4 and the team drew 3-3
This week he is playing:
- The Brabazon (Belfry) – Robert Rock Junior Golf Tour – The British Masters (Major) – Under 14
- Nuneaton Golf Club Junior Open
- Stoneham Golf Club – Robert rock Junior Golf Tour – The English open (Major) – Under 14
Then this coming Sunday 4th June he will be representing Warwickshire U14s against Worcestershire at Little Lakes Golf Club!
